About our cause

Our story
Every week, people across Redcar and Cleveland are quietly doing remarkable things — running food banks, supporting isolated older neighbours, organising youth clubs, caring for our coastline. Most of them aren't professional fundraisers. They're volunteers, trustees, and community champions who give their time because they love where they live.

Finding the money to keep going is often the hardest part of what they do.

That's why we built Redcar Fundseekers — a free, searchable directory of grants and funding programmes open to organisations in our area. No paywalls, no subscriptions, no jargon. Just straightforward help finding the money that makes local projects possible.

Right now, the directory lists 918 funding opportunities — 710 of them currently open — and 133 local organisations are already registered and using the site. There are 19 programmes targeted specifically at community groups in our area, and 50 available to organisations looking for grants under £1,000. Those smaller grants are often exactly what a new group needs to get started.

Since we launched, local groups have used Fundseekers to discover funders they'd never heard of, check whether they're eligible, and take their first step towards applying. We've seen sports clubs, mental health groups, heritage projects, and neighbourhood gardens all find a foothold through the site.

What your lottery ticket funds
Keeping Fundseekers free takes time and care. Someone has to review the database, check that funding deadlines haven't passed, add new programmes as they open, and make sure the information is accurate enough to trust.

Your support through the lottery helps us do exactly that — keeping the directory up to date, improving how it works, and making sure it stays freely available to every community group in Redcar and Cleveland, no matter how small.

A ticket a week is a small thing. The difference it makes to a local group finding their first ever grant isn't.

A word from us
"We started Redcar Fundseekers because we kept seeing the same thing: brilliant local groups missing out on funding simply because they didn't know it existed. The directory changes that — but only if we can keep it going. Your support means everything to us, and to the communities you're part of."

Redcar Fundseekers is a joint service of RCVDA and TVRA, provided free of charge to voluntary and community organisations across Redcar and Cleveland.
